Our first Travel Trailer was purchased on a whim and now, we’ll never look back. Approximately one year ago a spontaneous search on Craiglist triggered a major change for how our family does life. Particularly our leisure time.
We had toyed with the idea of a camping lifestyle in the past. We even entertained the idea of traveling full time for a very short time a few years back when we were in a time of transition in our careers. We’ve tent camped off and on, including a fun 10 days in a tent with a 1 night dash back to our house when a hurricane swept through the New England coast.
Another week later we were actively planning a cross-country trip to include a wide array of bucket list worthy stops.
The next several months were spent dreaming, repairing, and improving upon the trailer.
A few things we learned through this experience before we even made it out of the driveway for the first time:
- Chipmunks and Mice can get into very small places
- Ovens should not have nests.
- Measure correctly before ordering replacement awning fabric.
Travel Trailer floor plan:
This trailer had a decent layout for our family of 5 with a sleeping surface for each kid. We did have to sacrifice the dinette to make this work. My memories might have been less fond if the weather been less cooperative. We spent the first half of a 5 week trip in this camper before trading it in, thousands of miles from home, but that’s a story for another day.
