The following question came to my attention this week: What are your 2017 Spring Camping Resolutions. “Camp more” was about all I could come up with at first. After some thought, though, I think I have a pretty good list of things to work toward.
Resolution #1 – Camper Hacks
Making our camper space functional and comfortable is very important to me. I don’t think I’ll ever have a beautifully designed space, this is just not that important to me. However, you better believe that what I have has been given a lot of thought in terms of logistics and comfort. I’m such a sucker for innovation so you can be sure that my camper mods will include a few quirky gadgets. In my last post I outlined a few of the upgrades and modifications we have planned for this year’s camping season. The list is likely to grow once we get into the groove of preparing for the 2017 camping season.
Resolution #2 – Capturing Memories
I have a notoriously bad memory. My husband will frequently begin a question with “Do you remember when we…” In nearly ever case my answer is nope. Occasionally some very small spark of recollection will come back to me but it’s never the clear, detail rich, memory that he seems to be able to call up on command. One of my top goals for our adventures this year is to document them better. This blog is a big part of making that happen. My hope is that by creating a narrative and visual record of our travels.
Resolution #3 – Organizing Photographs
When we ventured out on our first big trip with the camper(actually it was our first trip period) we took tons of pictures. We took most of the pictures from the windows of our van, at speed. These pictures were spread amongst 5 cameras and 5 phones. Months later these photos are still not gathered into a central location and, as such, have not been sorted or curated in any meaningful way.
Resolution #4 – Relax and Enjoy
Our 2016 trip was five weeks long and included 7200 miles of driving. We didn’t take much time to just enjoy camping life. We have another five week trip planned but the drive time should be about half of last year’s excursion. My goal is to have more time to take some time to just be in the moment and enjoy my surroundings.
